Dear Friends,
I am feeling quite relaxed now. Finally, we have successfully organized our first Annual Conference at Delhi Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Research (DIPSAR), New Delhi, India on June 23, 2012.
I would like to thank each and every one at this moment, who have directly or indirectly associated with the conference organization committee and extended their help and support for the grand success of the conference.
I would like to share with you that when we decided to organize our first Annual conference in Delhi, and that too in the month of June, everyone had a doubt in their mind about whether we can succeed in the endeavor. But with the untiring efforts and continuous support of the senior academicians in the filed of pharmacy, members of organizing committee, as well as my friends and family members, especially my wife, we have managed to organize the conference with a grand success.
The function was inaugurated and the conference proceedings released by eminent educationist and research scientist Prof. (Dr.) S. N. Sharma as Chief Guest; Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Srinivasan, Professor and Director, DIPSAR, New Delhi, as Chairman Organizing Committee; Prof. (Dr.) Roop K Khar, Former Professor and Head, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; Prof. (Dr.) S. H. Ansari, Professor, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; Mr. Atul Kumar Nasa, President, IPGA, New Delhi, as Guest of Honor; and Dr. Upendra Nagaich, Secretary, Society of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (SPER), Gwalior, and Editor, Journal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology and Research (JAPTR), as Organizing Secretary of the conference.
On the occasion, Chairman of the organizing committee, Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Srinivasan delivered a welcome note and highlighted the current scenario in the field of pharmaceutical education and research.
The conference was held in collaboration with IFTM University, Moradabad (U.P.), and Journal of Advanced Pharmaceutical Technology and Research (JAPTR).
Overwhelming response was seen at the conference, and more than 300 delegates from over 45 colleges across the country participated in the event with their innovative oral and poster presentations. More than 200 participants presented posters of their research work in six different tracks. All posters were judged by judges invited from various academic organizations and pharmaceutical companies.
The aim of the conference was to create awareness about latest developments in the field of pharmaceutical education and research. The conference offered a common platform for interaction with eminent academicians, researchers, and industry leaders. It provided an open forum for the professionals of pharmaceutical research and academicians to enrich their knowledge in pharmaceutical education and research.
Various scientific lecture sessions were delivered by eminent personalities from academics as well as research. The key speakers at this conference were Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Srinivasan, Prof. (Dr.) Roop K. Khar, Prof. (Dr.) S. H. Ansari, and Mr. Atul Kumar Nasa.
During the conference, Prof. (Dr.) S. N. Sharma was honored with SPER Life Time Achievement Award for his immense contributions to pharmacy profession by Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Srinivasan. Four eminent academicians were honored with SPER Fellowship Award for their contribution to the profession, including Prof. (Dr.) Roop K Khar, Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Srinivasan, Prof. (Dr.) S. H. Ansari and Mr. Atul Kumar Nasa. The awards were given away by Prof. (Dr.) S. N. Sharma.
SPER Eminent Teacher Awards were conferred upon Prof. (Dr.) Kamla Pathak, Professor and Dean, Rajiv Academy for Pharmacy, Mathura; and Prof. (Dr.) Ashoke K Ghosh, Professor and Director, IFTM University, Moradabad, for their outstanding contribution in the field of pharmaceutical education. The awards were given away by Prof. (Dr.) B. P. Srinivasan. SPER Young Teacher Awards were conferred upon Prof. (Dr.) Arun Garg, Professor and Director, PDM College of Pharmacy, Bahadurgarh (Haryana); and Mr. Rakesh Pahwa, Assistant Professor, Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra, and the awards were given away by Prof. (Dr.) S. H. Ansari.
SPER Innovative Researcher Awards were conferred upon Prof. (Dr.) Roopa Karki, Professor and Head, Acharya and BM Reddy College of Pharmacy, Bangalore; and Dr. Rajiv Dahiya, Professor and Principal, Globus College of Pharmacy, Bhopal, and given away by Prof. (Dr.) A. K. Ghosh. SPER Young Scientist Awards were conferred upon Dr. Dilipkumar Pal, Associate Professor, Guru Ghasidas Vishwavidyalaya (GGV), Bilaspur, and Dr. Gurfateh Singh, Sachdeva College of Pharmacy, Mohali, and given away by Prof. (Dr.) D. P. Pathak.
SPER Young Talent Awards were conferred upon Dr. Pravin Pawar, Associate Professor and Head, Chitkara College of Pharmacy, Rajpura; and Mr. Sachdev Yadav, Assistant Professor, Banasthali University, Rajasthan, and given away by Prof. (Dr.) Satish Sardana. SPER Best Student Awards (UG, PG, Ph.D.) were conferred upon Murtaza Bharmal, Avinash Kaushik, Divya Kumar, and Inderbir Singh, and were given away by Prof. (Dr.) Devendra Pathak, Dr. S. K. Jain, and Prof. (Dr.) Kamla Pathak.
SPER Best Oral Presentation Awards were conferred upon Dr. Zeenat Iqbal, Jamia Hamdard, New Delhi; and Dr. Dilipkumar Pal, GGV, Bilaspur, and given away by Dr. Upendra Nagaich.
With an aim to encourage and motivate the students, five Best Poster Presentation Awards were given in each discipline by Dr. Upendra Nagaich.
Dr. Upendra Nagaich, organizing secretary of the conference, presented the vote of thanks at the conference.
